"I HAVE PUT A BIG PLASTIC BOWL FILLED WITH YOUR POCKET SCRIPTURES BY THE DOOR OF MY SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS ROOM. EACH WEEK THE CHILDREN TAKE ONE AS THEY ARE LEAVING. IT REMINDS THEM THAT GOD'S WORD IS SUPPOSED TO LAST ALL WEEK. SOON WE WILL MAKE A SMALLER JAR FOR EACH CHILD IN THE CLASS TO TAKE HOME WITH THEM.

CLICK HERE for printed instructions to make a scripture jar for each child in your class. Two weeks ahead of time ask the children to save their old plastic peatnut butter jars. They are a perfect size. Then pick up a sheet of Avery labels. I like size # 5162. Give each child one lable and ask them to write "From Jesus to Me". The children peal off the backing and put the lable on their jar. Allow them to choose one or two sheets of pocket scriptures, cut them up and put them in the jar.
Having the jar is the key to having the children follow through with their commitment to start each day with a fresh scripture in their pocket.
